Mr. William Wright "Rabbit" Johnson, age 83, of Mayfield passed away on Wednesday, June 15, 2016 at his residence.
He was a charter member of West Broadway Baptist Church, a member of Masonic Lodge #369, a member of American Legion Post #26, a retired farmer and a US Army veteran of the Korean War.
Mr. Johnson is survived by his wife of 60 years, Sarah Mullins Johnson; one son, Richard Martin (Mary) Johnson of San Diego, CA; one daughter, Mary Jane (Don) Tucker of Mayfield, KY; one brother, Don Keith (Gwen) Johnson of Mayfield, KY; two grandsons, William Shannon (Julie) Tucker and Jack Dee Johnson; one granddaughter, Sarah Rhiannon (Dusty) Hart; three great grandchildren, Laura Julian Tucker, Kannon Derek Hart and Drake Tucker Hart; and one niece, Angela Lee Johnson of Florence, KY.
He was preceded in death by his parents Berthal Dee and Ithran "Mollie" Gray Johnson; and one niece, Ginger Ann Johnson.
Funeral services for Mr. William Wright "Rabbit" Johnson will be 11:00 a.m. on Monday, June 20, 2016 at Byrn Funeral Home in Mayfield, KY. Rev. Jared Baker and David Guthrie will officiate. Interment will follow in Mayfield Memory Gardens. Military Graveside rites will be conducted by American Legion Post #26.
Pallbearers will be Cliff Guthrie, Mitch Guthrie, William Don Tucker, Dusty Hart, Weldon Hutchins, Robert Guthrie, William Shannon Tucker and Jack Dee Johnson.
Visitation will be 5:00 - 8:00 p.m. on Sunday, June 19, 2016 at the funeral home. Masonic Rites will be performed at 7:00 p.m. by Masonic Lodge #369.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to: Mayfield-Graves County Animal Shelter, 500 N. 12th Street, Mayfield, KY 42066 or Lourdes Hospice, P.O. Box 7100, Paducah, KY 42002.
