Mr. Max Franklin Davis, age 82, a resident of Mayfield, passed away at 11:00 A.M. Friday, May 1, 2020 at his residence. He was a member of Bethel Baptist Church in Wiggins, MS, He was a United States Air Force Veteran having served in Labrador, Canada and Crete Greece, He worked for 20 years as an Arthur Murray ballroom dance instructor and also for Fred Astaire in Dallas and Houston, Texas, He was the retired owner and operator for Morning Star Transport in Missouri for 23 years. He is survived one son: Rocky Paul Wilcox (Michelle), Xenia, OH, three daughters, Stacye Lanair Davis, Coila, MS, Trinity LaFaree Davis, Hattiesburg, MS, Madeline JoLynn Nolan (James), Wiggins, MS, one sister; Madeline Davis, Mayfield, special friend- Wanda Vaughn of Mayfield; special friends, the Redden family, four grandchildren, three step grandchildren and four great grandchildren along with several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife; Betty Wilcox; parents; Thurmon and Murmon Fairris Davis, one brother; James E. Grooms, a sister in law; JoAnn Grooms and a sister; Alma Love Cain. Private graveside services will be held at the Mayfield Memory Gardens with Rev. Gayle Barnes officiating. The Brown Funeral Home in Mayfield is in charge of arrangements.
