Miss Mary Sue Seay, age 93, of Mayfield, KY passed away on Sunday, December 4, 2016 at Jackson Purchase Medical Center in Mayfield, KY.
She graduated in 1941 from Mayfield High School; attended Wheeler Business College in Birmingham, AL.
Began employment with Birmingham Chamber of Commerce followed by employment with Robert W. Hunt Company, Ensley, AL.
In April 1944 she enlisted in the United States Coast Guard SPARS, and was discharged June 15, 1946, as Yoeman First Class. She began employment with the Commonwealth of Kentucky on September 26, 1946, and retired August 1, 1983 as Principal Case Worker Specialist with the Division of Field Services, Department of Human Resources.
Miss Seay had been a member of First Christian Church, Mayfield, since the age of ten. She was a former member of the Junior Welfare League and was the first President of the Emblem Business and Professional Women's Club when it was chartered March 24, 1965.
She is survived by one sister, Peggy Thorpe and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Margaret Sunshine (Yarbrough) and Aubra Seay; and four sisters, Jane Furcillo, Virginia "Jenny" Humphries, Madge Coston and Sara Conner.
Graveside services for Miss Mary Sue Seay will be 2:00 p.m. on Friday, December 9, 2016 at Mayfield Memory Gardens. Dr. Bruce Dobyns will officiate. Interment will follow.
Visitation will be 12:30 p.m. - 1:30 p.m. on Friday, December 9, 2016 at Byrn Funeral Home in Mayfield, KY.
