Mrs. Mary Lee Canter, age 95, of Mayfield passed away on Wednesday, April 5, 2017 at her residence.
She was a member of Emanuel Baptist Church, a longtime volunteer for the Republican Party, a former Board Member for the Soil Conservation Services and a homemaker.
Mrs. Canter is survived by one son, Bobby G. (Gwen) Canter of Mayfield, KY; two grandchildren; and five great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, James H. Canter; one son, William H Canter; two sisters, Virginia Mountjoy and Pauline Benshoff; one brother, Jack Gatewood; and her parents, Sid and Lizzie Gatewood.
Graveside services for Mrs. Mary Lee Canter will be 2:00 p.m. on Friday, April 7, 2017 at Mayfield Memory Gardens. Rev. Duane Fields will officiate. Interment will follow.
Visitation will be 11:30 a.m. - 1:30 p.m. on Friday, April 7, 2017 at Byrn Funeral Home in Mayfield, KY.
In lieu of flowers donations may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, P.O. Box 1000 Dept. 142, Memphis, TN 38101-9908 or the charity of one's choice.
