Martha Babb

Martha Dean Babb, Age 89, of Mayfield KY died Saturday July 4, 2015 at Baptist Health of Paducah.

Mrs. Babb served as Sunday School Teacher for 40 years at First Baptist Church in Mayfield; Served 19 years on the Mayfield City Council as the first woman to have a seat; Was honored the Distinguished Citizens Award in 2006 for her service by the Chamber of Commerce; Worked as tourism guide for the Chamber of Commerce until age 75; Instrumental in helping start the Main Street Museum of Mayfield; and was on the Mayfield Library Board until her death.

She is survived by; her son, Charlie (Becky) Babb of Mayfield KY, her daughter Pam (Ronnie) Reid of Mayfield, one sister Bettye Peterson of Chicago IL, four grandchildren, five great grandchildren also survive.

She was preceded in death by; her husband Charles E. Babb, three sisters, and her parents Jiles Elbert and Berti Mae Pentecost.

Funeral services will be held 2:00PM Wednesday July 8, 2015 at the Byrn Funeral Home in Mayfield KY. Dr. Wes Fowler will officiate. Interment will follow in the Mayfield Memory Gardens Cemetery. Men from her First Baptist Sunday School Class will serve as pallbearers. Visitation is scheduled from 5-8PM Tuesday July 7, 2015 at the funeral home.
