Lucy Adams

WEST VIOLA - Lucy Jane Cooper Adams, 73, of West Viola died at 7:10 p.m. Friday at Western Baptist Hospital.

Lucy was a member of Pleasant Grove United Methodist Church, a 1955 graduate of Lowes High School and a program assistant for Graves County ASCS office for 39 years.

Survivors include her husband of 54 years, Bill Adams; a son Mark Adams and wife Karen Adams of Lexington, Ky.; a daughter, Melisa Raney and husband Tim of Folsomdale; grandchildren, Matthew Adams of Lexington and Brittany Raney, Justin Raney and Alexa Pearl Raney, all of Folsomdale; and sisters, Reba Gitterle of Mayfield and Peg Houser of Boaz.

Lucy was preceded in death by her parents, Morris and Pearl Tomas Cooper; a sister, Betty Knight; and brothers, Bill Cooper, Tom Cooper and Bob Cooper.

Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Monday, November 1, 2010, at Brown Funeral Home in Mayfield. The Rev. Dan Tilley and the Rev. Michael Elliott will officiate with entombment to follow at Woodlawn Memorial Gardens. The nephews will serve as pallbearers.

Friends are invited to call from 5:00 until 8:00 p.m. this evening at Brown Funeral Home in Mayfield.

Expressions of sympathy may take the form of contributions to Gideons International or the American Cancer Society.
