Leslie Kopischke

October 22, 1923 — August 2, 2010

Mr. Leslie E. Kopischke, 86, of Paducah passed away at 3:35 p.m. Monday, August 2, 2010, at Lourdes hospital in Paducah, Ky., in the presence of his family.

Mr. Kopischke was a native of Morgan, Minn. He was a World War II veteran and later proudly served in the U.S. Air Force for 22 years. After retiring from the Air Force, he permanently relocated to Paducah in 1971, where he was a small business owner of Ko-Star Galleries for 25 years. Late in his retirement years, he enjoyed working as a Wal-Mart Greeter and as a Security Greeter at the McCracken County Courthouse. He was a long standing member of St. Matthew Lutheran Church and a current member of Amazing Grace Lutheran Church.

Surviving are his wife, Beverly Kopischke; three sons, Tim Kopischke of Paducah, Jon Kopischke of Dickson, Tenn., and Brian Kopischke of Paducah; six grandchildren; one great-grandchild; and his sister, Florence Kopischke Engholm of Morgan, Minn.

He was preceded in death by his father, Herman Kopischke; his mother, Emma Netzke Kopischke; his sister, Helen Kopischke, all of Morgan, Minn.; and his brother, Wilbert Kopischke of Denver, Colo.

Funeral services will be held Thursday, August 5, 2010, at 11 a.m. at Lindsey Funeral Home in Paducah. The Rev. Dean Akins will officiate. He will be laid to rest at Woodlawn Memorial Gardens in Paducah with full military honors.

Friends may pay respects after 5 p.m. today, August 4, 2010, at Lindsey Funeral Home in Paducah.
