Judith Goheen

November 27, 1940 — April 11, 2013

Mrs. Judith Anne (Whitehead) Goheen, 72, of Calvert City, departed this life to be with the Lord Thursday, April 11, 2013, at her home.

She was a member of Briensburg Church of Christ. Judith was born on November 27, 1940, in a bomb shelter in Warrington, England. She was the only child of the late Joseph and the late Jean (Grubb) Whitehead. Judith's father was a logistic planner for the British Army and was required to leave for Africa two weeks before her birth. He did not see his daughter until she was two years old. When she was nine years old, Judith came to this country with her parents and grandparents. She was a graduate of Paducah Tilghman High School. During her working career she was a sales clerk for Jill's Shoe Box, Puckett's Jewelry, and was a receptionist at Calvert City Quick Lube.

Judith was a caring, loving and devoted wife to her husband of 28 years, Jim Goheen; a loving mother to four sons, Mike Lyles, who preceded her in death, Tim Lyles of Memphis, Tenn., Bruce Lyles and wife Wendy of Calvert City; and Andy Lyles of Calvert City; and one stepson, Michael Goheen of Dayton, Ohio. She was also the grandmother to two wonderful granddaughters, Erika Lyles of Louisville and Brooke Lyles of Calvert City. Judy was a loving and devoted mother, grandmother and wife, she was well known in the Calvert City area for her bubbly personality and caring ways endeared to all who came in contact with her.

Funeral services will be held Monday, April 15, 2013, at 11 a.m. in the chapel of Collier Funeral Home in Benton with Chris Moore and Gary Knuckles officiating. Interment will follow the service in Woodlawn Memorial Gardens in Paducah.

The family will receive friends between the hours of 5 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. Sunday, April 14, 2013, at Collier Funeral Home in Benton. Memorial contributions may be made to: Marshall County School for Exceptional Children, 198 Old Symsonia Rd., Benton, KY 42025; or to St. Jude Children's Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
