Jerry L. Wilson, 90, husband of the late Lillian Jean Wilson, died on July 22, 2022. He was the son of the late Ralph Rhey Wilson and Velda Hanks Wilson and father of the late William W. Wilson. Jerry taught school in Davies and Carlisle Counties before becoming a Probation and Parole Officer for the state of Kentucky. He also served as superintendent for Frenchburg Correctional Complex and Associate Warden of Eddyville Penitentiary. His career culminated into the position of Administrator of Vocational Training, where he was able to utilize his skills as a teacher and an administrator in a rehabilitation setting. For more than 45 years, his free time was spent with his family and friends boating on Lake Cumberland. He was a member of Anchor Baptist Church and committed to Feeding God’s Children as he volunteered with Grace Baptist Church and the Feed the Hungry Program. He was a veteran of the US Army.
He is survived by his daughter, Margaret Elizabeth (Brian) Cross; his grandchildren, William David Cross and Ethan Mackenzie Cross; his brother-in-law, Gary L. (Paula) Johnson; and two nephews Matthew Edward Johnson and Seth Alan Johnson.
Visitation will be held on Tues., Aug. 2, 2022 at 10:30 am followed by the service at 12:00 pm at Milward-Man O' War, 1509 Trent Blvd. A reception will follow the service from 1-2:30 pm. Interment will be held on Wed., Aug. 3, 2022 at Mayfield Memorial Gardens in Mayfield, KY at 11 am Central time.
