George H. McKinney Jr., 80 years of age, a resident of Lone Oak, died Wednesday night, August 14, 2013, at 11:25 p.m. at Baptist Health Paducah with his family by his side.
George, a Christian, was a veteran of the Korean War and a long-term member of the Teamsters Local 236. He was employed by A&H Freight Lines and Advance Freight Lines. Among his hobbies was gardening, working on small engines, restoring Cub Cadet Tractors, and generally staying busy.
He was a graduate from Augustus Tilghman High School in the Class of 1951.
George is survived by his wife of 56 years, Nancy Cooper McKinney, and three children, G. Brent McKinney, Laurie Ann McKinney, and Leslie Taylor McKinney, all of Paducah; one granddaughter, Kimberly Suzanne (McKinney) Omran of Cape Girardeau; and was looking forward to a great-granddaughter, Hend Elizabeth Omran, in a month.
He was preceded in death by his parents, G.H. McKinney and Magdalene Torian McKinney; and a beloved aunt and uncle, Thelma and Gilbert Farmer.
Graveside services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, August 17, 2013, at Woodlawn Memorial Gardens of Paducah with Rev. John Smithmier officiating.
There will be no visitation.
