Billy Powell

Billy Ray Powell of Paducah, formerly of Carlisle County, died on his 70th birthday Sunday at Lourdes hospital.

He was a member of Twelve Oaks Baptist Church and retired from Westvaco Paper Mill. His hobbies included gardening, taking care of his yard and following the activities that his children and grandchildren were involved in.

Services will be held Thursday, September, 16, 2010, at 11:00 a.m. at the Lone Oak Chapel of Milner & Orr Funeral Home with the Rev. Louis Brinker officiating. Burial will follow at Woodlawn Memorial Gardens.

Visitation will be Wednesday, September 15, 2010, after 4:00 p.m. at the Lone Oak Chapel of Milner & Orr Funeral Home.

Survivors include his wife of 30 years, Vara Malone Powell; one daughter, Kristie Stuber and husband David, and three sons, Bryan Keith Powell, Timothy Adams and wife Holly, Bill Adams and wife Anita, all of Paducah; two sisters, Frances Reeder of Phoenix, Ariz., and Hilda Bogle of Fancy Farm, Ky.; two brothers, James Eldred Powell of Milburn, Ky., and Harrell Powell and wife Avonell of Huntington, W.Va.; six grandchildren, Cohen Malone Adams, Bella Grace Adams, Kimberly Ann Darnall and husband Chad, Whitney Dawn Adams, Nicholas Keith Stuber and wife Mary Beth and Eric Bryan Stuber; five great-grandchildren, Madalyn Fae Darnall, William Edward Darnall, Madison Nicole Stuber, Samuel Patryk Stuber and Morgan Elizabeth Stuber; and several nieces and nephews.

Preceding in death were his parents, James Ray and Ida Elsie Tackett Powell; one sister; and one brother.
